Results at a glance

Results from this second review of the key policy elements of new societies legislation will be posted on this site at the end of July.

Last year, the Department of Community Services invited societies and the public to provide their feedback on their experience with the current Societies Act and Regulations.

We heard back from over 90 people:

  • At least 55 participants at two open houses and focus group events in Whitehorse
  • Seven participants during three conference calls with Watson Lake and Dawson City
  • 30 written submissions

Stakeholders identified where and how they had difficulty with the legislation and offered suggestions for how the legislation could be improved. Their feedback focuses on eight general themes. The department is reviewing all of the feedback received and considering it as we continue to develop new legislation.
