How the appeal court system works in the Yukon
The Yukon Court of Appeal hears appeals of decisions made by:
- the Territorial Court of Yukon; and
- the Supreme Court of Yukon.
1. To appeal a decision, one must provide a Notice of Appeal within 30 days of the decision being issued, unless:
- the law says otherwise; or
- the court makes an order.
2. Documents are filed and then shared between the parties to the appeal:
- within timelines set in the Rules of Court; and
- under the supervision of the Registrar.
3. The Registrar will schedule the following before a judge or a panel of judges:
- any initial applications;
- the appeal; or
- both.
4. The Court of Appeal of Yukon will hear the case.
